28mm Dark Ages

This is a Period that I have enjoyed painting for ,for a long time. There is something about Normans ,Vikings and Saxons that just captures the imagination straight away.
Many of the figures I have painted over the years have been metal but just recently some lovely figures have appeared in plastic. The first set of Normans shown below are from the Perry's Crusades collection and were painted for Dave Thomas to match in with work he had had done be the late Jim Bowen. I then updated many other units for this collection but unfortunately only have this one shot.

The mounted Norman below are from Gripping Beast and Foundry and are slightly later than the conquests allowing for larger work on the shields and possible use for Crusading.

These Normans are from Foundry and Old Glory (some of their better ranges in Dark Ages) and are from the conquest to Early Crusades period...enjoyed doing the shields on these as I always have...I am not a lover of transfers.

Here we have Vikings and Saxons (cant tell which is which...lol ,bit of both in each set I think) and they are from Foundry and Redoubt as well as a few plastics which fit in well. With these ranges you always get lots of lovely animated figures to paint ,very enjoyable.
