Infamy Infamy...Year of the 4 Emperors Sets

Well the Collection for the Year of the Four Emperors has really moved on and is in a gaming state already...you can see below the original forces for the 1st Legion...all from Foundry with Black tree archers and a set of Gallic warriors that I have decided to use as mercenaries.

Here we have the 2nd Legion forces using 1ST Corps figures to differentiate from the Foundry ones being attacked by the 1st Legion. So in both these forces we have regulars , auxilia and archers as well as Centurion's and Optio's and a set of Gallic mercenaries.

Next I have added the mounted troops for both Legions as well as Elite legionaries bringing both forces up to a well playable set. The Elite forces are from Foundry & 1st Corps and the cavalry from 1st Corps & Warlord games. All the shields on these forces are from LBM Studios which I had for decades and are still as good as new.

And finally the Two small forces ready to face off on a table soon...so I hope many a good battle report to come.

28mm "Infamy Infamy" it begins...

Having watched a great youtube post from the two fat lardies I decided to look through my figure mountain and see what I could put together ready for the coming rules.
Firstly I looked at Imperial Romans and quickly realised I would be able to do a great Civil War set using Foundry for one side and 1st Corps for the other.
here are some of my first Foundry sets...Legionaries , Auxilia & Eastern Archers , being attacked by Gauls.

I remembered all the lovely ancients I have and worked
out the following in both Foundry & 1st Corps with the Gauls a mix of Renegade  1st Corps.

Imperial forces for Civil War
Legionaries units x 3
Auxilia units x 2
Elite unites x 2
archer unit
cavalry unit

Gallic units for Infamy
Warriors x 4
Elite warriors
Naked javelinmen
archers
slingers

Not a bad start and already on the way with them...can't wait for the rules to hit the market and to start playing... so here's some more shots for you.

28mm Spartan and Athenian Greeks for Mortal Gods

Having received a call from my great mate Johnny boy Martin to see if I had any Greeks available I proceeded to produce these two sets of troops for him.
The first set are of Spartan from 1st Corps and are figures in bell cuirasses. They include a piper and two officers.
This second set are of Athenians and are from Victrix and include two officers again and the usual piper
All these troops are in sets of three and have been produced for the new Mortal Gods game. Also I decided to paint all the shields by hand as I cant do with the printed ones are they are so fiddley ...lol

28mm Mycenaean Raid Skirmish Game

Having painted this beautiful Greek Trireme I had to use it for something...(actually the ship was a gift from Grand Manner grand master Dave Bodley. Well I chose to use it for my skirmish collection of Trojan period stuff and devised a raid on a Phoenician settlement by Mycenaeans warriors with the Egyptians allied to the settlers.
Below we see the Terrors from the sea heading straight for the village for plunder ,but the cry has gone out for aid from an Egyptian camp close by.

The Greeks ready themselves to storm ashore

The Egyptians have got the work and their Lord leads them out

The Phoenicians take up heir arms to meet the threat

The Mycenaeans land and attack the villagers with archer cover from the ship

After a heroic fight the villagers are finally pushed back through the village

As the Egyptians arrive in the village it seems too late as the Greeks have taken the supplies and live stock and are taking them back to their ship

Finally with all aboard and their booty the Achaeans set sail with minimal losses and an angry Egyptian Lord looking on

28mm Peloponesian War Game (Hail Caesar)

Well in my Gallery section you will find a collection for Classical Greece ,and here is a game that was played with those figures and represents an attack on a Greek City allied to the Athenians by the Spartans. The two forces that I put together were predominantly from 1st Corps with a few Foundry and a few of the new (at the time) plastics. Obviously the Spartan forces had the common Lambda on their shields but for the Athenians I could go crazy...now I have to admit that many of these shields were hand painted by an old friend Andy Jarvis who did them many years ago.
Below you can see the two armies lined up in battle array and as for this period it was Hoplite against Hoplite at the heart of the battle lines.

Below is the Athenian force comprising of six phalanx's of Hoplites and a line of covering Ekdromio with Heavy cavalry on the flank

The Spartan line is made up of four phalanx's of Hoplites with Helot archers ,slingers and javelinmen to their front with Thessalian Horsemen covering their flank. They also had a reserve of Young Hoplites in the rear.

Closer pictures of the opposing forces

After the Gods had been appeased the Spartans advanced in line straight towards the Athenians

The Athenian Hoplites advance to meet the threat with their heavy cavalry charging the flank

The Spartan veteran Hoplites push the Athenians back

With all the Athenian Hoplites in the centre falling back the Thesselain cavalry attack from the flank

Two units of Veteran Athenian Hoplites manage to fight a heroic rear guard as the rest of their army streams back into the city

A happy Spartan General looks on happy as he knows that the city will now offer bread and water in submission..."thank the Gods"

28mm Gates of Troy Skirmish Game

In the Gallery section you will see some of the Trojan war Hero's and warriors I have painted over the years and here is a game I played with those very figures. The game is based on a supply train bound for one of the gates of Troy protected by Lucca warriors lead by Prince Hector and Lord Aeneus ,which is spotted and attacked by a force of Greeks and their hero's....Prince Paris is in command of the Trojan support force.

Here we see the supplies heading for the City

The force of Greeks lead by Agamemnon ,Achilles ,Odysseus ,Ajax and Menelaus

Paris sees the Greek approach and comes to the gates with a force of Trojan long shields

The Lucca warriors fall out to attack the Greeks

Agamemnon .Achilles and Odysseus attack the Lucca with their Greeks

Whilst Menelaus and Ajax go to cut of Paris and his force of Trojans

Paris's relief force is held a bay whilst the main battle rages

Menelaus and Ajax fight hard against the Long shields

As the battle rages the supplies are still making their way to the gate.

All the hero's fight hard and Hector takes his toll on the Greeks

Eventually the supplies reach the city gate and the remaining Long shields cover all the retreat.
