28mm French & Indian War Sharp Practice full sets

As you have seen in previous posts , I have been building up a small collection of figures for Sharp Practice. I now have , what I think is all I am going to need (so far) to play some great games.

So here's a look at the collection so far...

I first started with usual units as in a couple of regular British and French all from 1st Corps ,and very easy to paint including Marines for the French and 60th American for the British.

After adding some initial Rangers and Courier de Bois I finally turned to the Native Americans doing them in such a way as to be able to use if necessary for both sides. For the Rangers I cheated a little and used 1st Corps French campaign figures and took heads from highland figures in the Front Rank ranges and converted them.

Finally I used the 1st Corps undress and campaign figures to paint up as militia for the British ,but actually these figures are great for Militia on both sides

All in all I am very happy with my little collection and look forward to some happy gaming.

28mm French & Indian Wars Project ...update 1

Finally managed to have a look at the French Indian stuff that I have slowly bin adding to over the last year.

I cant believe that I didn't see the Sharp Practice rules earlier and I wouldn't have sold the lovely 1st Corp collection of stuff that I already had...but I suppose that's the way of the world. Above are some of the figures on the movement bases that I adapted for them.

Below are the British comprising of a 3 section unit of regulars with yellow facings and relevant Colonel ,Officers and Sgt. and a group of Ranger skirmishers. The figures for the regulars were some that I bought from e-bay and actually I don't know who makes them but I really liked the poses and they match in beautifully with my 1st Corps stuff, of which the units are finished off. The Rangers are a number of base campaign figures mixed with some simple conversions of 1st Corps figures with Front rank highlander heads which seem to work great. The Mounted Colonel is a Foundry Dragoon officer I had .but works OK for me.

Next, below we have our French regulars all done from the 1st Corps figure range including campaign look apart from the Colonel which again is an officer that I had ...and I think he's from Foundry's Seven Years War stuff. hey are done with blue facings. Along with them I have done two sections of Marine Canadian in all blue undress campaign look and these are done using figures from 1st Corps "courier de bois" set.

Others I have ready to add to these are British 60th Royal American , British Local Militia. French Regt. Dillon (don't care if not necessarily accurate I want French in red), a unit of Huron Indians and French local militia.

Having put together a small skirmish set of 1st Corps 7YW stuff for the French & Indians war the next thing to do was game. Above shows the set up at the start of the game and the forces used  are as follows

2x British regular companies a company of Jersey Blues and an artillery piece.

2x French Regular companies a company of militia and a small company of Grenadiers

The British are defending the Stockade against the French attack but the French appear to have got the drop on them ,although the blockhouse and the Farmhouse are full of British Regulars.

To the south of the farmhouse the Jersey Blues form a firing line as they see French militia coming out of the trees

At the outbreak of hostilities the French attack on all sides and the British open fire with muskets and gun with casualties being suffered on both sides

The Jersey troops easily manage to halt the advance of the French militia and eventually charge them from the field

The French main advance falters as they loose heavily trying to advance down the track

By the farmhouse the British regulars are retreating slowly outnumbered

In the battle around the farmhouse the support now from the Jersey troops allows the British to halt the French advance and finally force them into retreat

With heavy losses the French on the track are in disarray so the British see their chance and a charge send the French reeling back

Finally the French Commander uses his Grenadiers to at as a rear guard so their retreat does not turn into a route. The French live to fight another day

FRENCH & INDIAN WAR PROJECT

I have long since wanted to have my own small collections using 1st Corps figures from the early ranges...I believe the work on these is beautiful so here is the start of these projects...
Starting with some French marines..British rangers and French regulars.
                                                                               

Next here are my first British regulars..now I have to say that as I progress I will be using 1st Corps but these first are some I picked up on ebay and have touched up..couldn't resist...
