28mm English Civil War Cavalry & Dragoons

I have always had a soft spot for this period and the chance came for me to paint some of these lovely Empress minis earlier this year when Paul Hamilton sent me these little beauties.
Below are Okey's Dragoons in marching order and moving to the front ready to take on those bloody Parliamentarians.

Here we see the same Dragoons dismounted and in skirmish order

This was a great change for me painting the same unit both mounted and on foot

Now below we have a couple of units of Royalist cavalry both trotting and charging again all from Empress and I am Impressed...

28mm English Civil War cavalry

Just recently painted these lovely figures for my friend Martin...there were a few more but I thought these were enough to show them.

The  first set below are from Redoubt Miniatures and are still as lovely as when first designed many years ago and include a couple of foppish looking officer types.

Here we have more from Redoubt Enterprises and again show charging with a couple of Officer types
The figures were painted as requested in generic neutral colours.

Below we have the first figures from Renegade and again they are lovely stuff and this group includes a foppish trumpeter.

And finally another set of Renegade spirited galloping poses.
The only thing I will say about the Renegade figures is to be careful about the feet on their charging horses as the ankles are very week.

GALLERY: 28mm ECW

This collection is again a special one to me as I was asked to put it together for a friend who was displaying an ECW game at Salute 2016 at the same time I was doing the 40 mm Napoleonic game with Ian Smith. The game came 2nd behind us , That meant I had painted figures for the "best of show" and the runner up ,so not bad eh.
The figures themselves are a mix of both Bicorne miniatures and Renegade and the go really well together. I also loved the use of multiple Company flags giving sometimes 5 to a unit.
Below are some regular Parliamentarian units...

Here we see a more random town trained band...

Some ECW stuff

Bin working on an order for some English Civil War stuff and they were specific uniforms...and units.
Firstly here are the King himself and some commanders including Prince Rupert , Lord Hopton and William Waller.
Next we have Prince Ruperts Lifeguards of horse and some Northern horse....lovely to paint these figures, as they needed variants of off whites as well as buff.

Finally four groups of musketeers, two of which are in red and grey and then one in maroon and blue and one in blue and yellow...I have placed all the figures behind a good wall for the piccies as Iam not actually basing them.
Al in all a nice little set and lovely figures to paint.
